Age verification

A short page explaining the 18+ gate on this site, why it exists, how it works technically, and what it means for parents and educators.

Adult self-certification

The gate on first load is a self-certification screen. You confirm you are at least 18, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if that is higher. There is no ID upload, no biometric check and no government verification service. That is a limit of the mechanism, and this page is open about it.

Once you accept, a small flag is stored in your browser's local storage. Return visits from the same browser skip the gate. Clearing site data, switching browsers or opening a private window resets it.

Two age controls in play

  1. This site's 18+ gate. Applies to reading coverage on anime-girls.io. Self-certification, browser-side flag, no verification.
  2. Each app's own age rules. Anime girl AI apps set their own age requirements and checks in their Terms. A clear 18+ rule with real age checks is one of the four privacy clauses listed in the private chat section of the main page.

Why this site is 18+

Coverage here discusses adult use of AI companion apps: archetypes such as the possessive yandere, paid plans, photo and clip features, and the content rules that decide how far a chat goes. That framing is written for adults. Every character discussed is an adult as well; "girl" names the anime art style, not an age. Who runs the site is on the about page, and how facts are checked on the methodology page.

Regional variation

Where the local age of majority is above 18, the higher threshold applies. Where local law requires stronger verification for adult-focused sites, those rules apply to you as a reader regardless of what this site does technically. The self-certification gate is the only control on the site side. Reader rules are in the terms of service, and the record-keeping position in the 18 U.S.C. § 2257 statement.

Parents and educators

This site is not a resource for readers under 18. A network-level content filter with a category block on adult sites is more reliable than any self-certification screen if a household needs to enforce the limit.

Data implications of the gate

The gate flag lives in your browser only. No server-side record of your acknowledgement is kept and no personal data is collected. Full detail is on the privacy policy page.
