Methodology
A working document describing how the Anime Girl AI page is researched, sourced and kept current. Every material claim on the main page traces back to one of the source categories below.
Source hierarchy
Not every source carries the same weight. Ranked from heaviest to lightest:
- Named reference sources. Encyclopaedia Britannica for anime history, including the role of Osamu Tezuka and the roots of the big-eyed style.
- App Terms and policy pages. For anything an AI chat app promises about memory, refunds, renewal, character ownership, age checks or training on private chats, the Terms page is the source. Homepage claims are read as marketing until the Terms confirm them.
- Hands-on checks inside the apps. Building a character, asking for several photos of her, and spreading the free allowance across different archetypes to see how each one opens a chat.
- Japanese language roots. Archetype names are explained from the words they come from (deredere, tsun-tsun, kūru, danmari, yanderu, onee-san) rather than from fan shorthand.
- Fan conventions. Fan lists and polls are used to describe how fans sort and rank heroines, and are framed as convention, never as fact about a specific character.
Dated figures
Figures move over time. Any figure on the main page carries the date it was checked, and when a number is refreshed, the date changes with it.
Opinion is labelled as opinion
Some parts of the main page are the editor's own rules of thumb: the "good pick if you want" column in the archetype table, the hair color pairings, the advice to start with a deredere. Those are written in the first person so a reader can tell judgment from sourced fact.
How apps are checked
Three checks repeat for every anime girl AI app the site looks at. First, identity: the same character in three photos should keep the same face and hair. Second, cost: what the free allowance covers, which actions cost extra, whether the plan renews and whether unused credit expires. Third, privacy: an 18+ rule with age checks, chats hidden from other users, no training of general-purpose or third-party models on private chats, and a clear statement of when staff may review conversations.
Freshness and revision cadence
The main page is re-checked at least every 90 days, and out of cycle when a cited figure or an app's Terms change in a way that affects a claim. When a page is updated, its dateModified value in schema is bumped; datePublished never changes, so the record of first publication survives. Who runs the site is on the about page, and how reader data and site use are handled is set out in the privacy policy and the terms of service.
What does not get done here
- No sponsored coverage. No app has paid for placement or for a recommendation, as the editorial policy sets out.
- No figures without a source and a date.
- No characters presented as anything other than adults, in line with the age verification policy and the 18 U.S.C. § 2257 statement.
- No homepage promise repeated as fact when the Terms say otherwise.
